The new publication of +i data offers a selection of 10 indicators of population and territory, economy and society. The picked up data are concerning Basque Country, with the option to compare them at world-wide level.
On the other hand, like newness, we have elaborated one followed of indicators for Basque Country that picks up the evolution of these indices during a period of ten years along with a comparative one with Finland.
Selection of indicators:

|
Population (per 1000 inhab.) Births (per 1000 inhab.) Deaths (per 1000 inhab.) |
GDP per inhabitant (PPA in €) Business investment (% of GDP) Degree of balance economy openings (% of GDP) |
|
RTD investment (as a % of GDP) Science and technology graduates (per 1000) Unemployment (EUSTAT) Poverty risk rate |
|

The economist, Nekane Jurado, analyze and take a reading of the data.
These values have led to a situation where
the Basque Country has become a society ruled
by heavy handed legislation. General insecurity
in the standard of living for the vast
majority of the population: immigrants, women,
young people, old people, has occurred
as a result of the Public Sector's active
intervention, by passing laws that deregulate
and remove protection from the employment
market and devalue social protection.
However, this reality is revealed within statistical
averages that cancel out any extremes
or inequality, so it is important now to
analyse the Basque Country's structural indicators
from its back room.
However, economic indicators become particularly
important in the midst of a downturn.
The increase in GDP throughout the decade
has put the Basque Country annual
income per inhabitant at 33,014€; Productivity
stands at 72,361€ per employee, 29%
higher than the EU. The current problem in
our economy is not low productivity but low
consumption; Spending on research and development
(RTD) standing at 1.79% of GDP.(...) Plaintext in the publication.. |
